Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the top ten best fights on “the Boys”. While we won’t include anything from “Diabolical or Gen V” this time, there will be spoilers. What’s your favorite fight on “The Boys”? And should we include “Gen V” and “Diabolical” the next time around? Let us know in the comments.

#10: Butcher vs. Gunpowder

“The Only Man In The Sky”

While trying to get intel that could help him take down Homelander, butcher interrogates the supe known as Gunpowder. But after touching a nerve, the leader of the boys finds himself in the literal crosshairs of a powerful enemy. The shootout between Butcher and Gunpowder was incredibly tense and contained some impressive special effects. Fortunately for us, their conflict later leveled up when Butcher revealed he'd been taking a serum that gave him superpowers. It was immensely satisfying to see him absolutely demolish Gunpowder with his fists alone. Although the heavily armed supe surrendered, he died after his foe lost control of his powers. This surprising battle let us know that a superpowered Butcher was a force to be reckoned with. File NameTheBoys_S03E02_TheOnlyManInTheSky_2019-P_1080p.mp

#9: Starlight vs. Vought Guards & A-Train

“You Found Me”

Although Annie is much kinder and more selfless than her peers, she's far from a pushover. She reminded everyone why she was on the seven in the season one finale. When most of the boys found themselves at the mercy of Vought security, Starlight saved the day. She single-handedly takes down every opponent with her strength and light-based abilities. After virtually walking through the security, the fast A Train shows up to take her down. While this section of the battle is admittedly brief, the gorgeous moments where the speedster outran light made up for it. Their one-on-one is suddenly cut short by A-Train’s heart attack. Despite not winning outright, Starlight still put on an impressive display.

#8: Kimiko vs. Black Noir

“Good for the Soul”

Frenchie was rightfully terrified when he learned that he was being hunted by the incredibly strong Black Noir. Although he wanted to run as far and fast as he could, he stopped to free the imprisoned supe Kimiko. Frenchie’s decision led to an awesome confrontation. Just when Black Noir catches up to him, Kimiko decides to fight on her ally’s behalf. The supes trade blows in a fast paced fight to the death. Since neither can talk, we mostly hear the brutal sounds of combat as the battle rages on. Black Noir’s superior experience and weapons gave him the edge in this close matchup. Luckily, Kimiko lived to fight another day in even bigger bouts.

#7: The Animated Payback Team vs. Soldier Boy

“Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed”

The original Black Noir relied on animated characters to help him relive painful memories of how badly Soldier Boy mistreated everyone. Those cartoons eventually showed us how the patriotic supe was put on ice. While the empowered team known as Payback was on a mission, the majority of members turned on Soldier Boy. Even though the supes are represented by cute animals, the fight was still quite brutal. The contrast between the extreme violence and innocent looking creatures resulted in a brawl that made us both laugh and wince. This fight also helped solve the mystery of why Soldier Boy wanted to kill his former Payback team members. At the end of this unexpected matchup, they cemented their victory by letting him get put away.

#6: Starlight vs. Black Noir

“Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker”

After Annie became a problem for Vought, they sent in Black Noir to take her in. He’s able to overwhelm Starlight with the element of surprise and imprison her. When Starlight escaped Vought custody, the silent supe hit her with another stealthy attack. But the second time around, she was ready to fight back. Their one-on-one starts off with the combatants trading serious hits. Unfortunately for Starlight, Black Noir quickly started dominating the battle with precise martial arts moves and his overwhelming strength. Starlight only survived after Maeve exploited Black Noir’s nut allergy. While the ending definitely took an absurd turn, this skirmish between Seven members is still worth revisiting.

#5: Kenji & Kimiko vs. Stormfront

“Over the Hill with the Swords of a Thousand Men”

A pair of superpowered siblings managed to become two of the Seven’s biggest targets. After narrowly escaping Homelander, Kimiko and Kenji found themselves facing Stormfront. The electrifying villain used her tremendous powers to toss the siblings around like ragdolls. And along the way, Stormfront caused a ton of collateral damage. Throughout this gigantic battle, Kenji and Kimiko constantly pushed themselves to their limits in order to just stay alive. But Stormfront doesn’t stop until her thirst for blood gets fulfilled. Between its destructive nature and tragic conclusion, this brawl stood out as one of the show’s most brutal action scenes.

#4: Butcher vs. Translucent

“The Name of the Game”

Before the leader of the Boys ever experimented with superpowers, he took on enhanced foes with nothing more than his wits and pure grit. His best bout as himself occurred during the premiere. When Translucent tried to kill Hughie, Butcher brought the fight to the semi-transparent supe. The leader of the boys started the duel with a crowbar. But after Butcher loses the weapon, he takes on the strong Translucent with his bare hands. While the Englishman’s physical strength isn’t enough for the job, he’s able to surge ahead thanks to an electric assist from Hughie. The sheer determination Butcher displayed helped this dust up become one of the show’s most memorable David vs Goliath confrontations.

#3: The Boys vs. Soldier Boy

“The Instant White-Hot Wild”

Butcher was ready to side with anyone who was willing to kill Homelander. But after Soldier Boy threatened the young Ryan, the leader of the Boys changed his tune. Butcher’s super strength and laser vision were seemingly enough to give him the win. But when Soldier Boy overwhelmed him, a few of the Boys arrived to help everyone survive. The ensuing battle was full of close calls, devastating hits, and great twists. And it also helps that every single member of the boys gets to literally or figuratively shine. The nail biting battle is only decided at the very last second. While the fight took a heavy toll on multiple heroes, it was thrilling to see the Boys come out on top.

#2: Kimiko, Starlight, & Maeve vs. Stormfront

“What I Know”

By the time the extremely hateful electric supe went after the Boys, Kimiko and Starlight were hungry for payback. The heroic duo held nothing back as they rushed into battle to pummel Stormfront. Unfortunately, the villain still proved to be too much for Kimiko, Starlight, and the boys to handle. But everything changed when Maeve arrived. Once she started fighting alongside the heroes, Stormfront stood absolutely no chance. This beatdown was extremely cathartic for everyone involved. Not only did the hateful Stormfront get her comeuppance, but Kimiko got well-deserved revenge for her brother’s untimely murder. We also loved seeing three heroines topple a supervillain.

#1: Butcher, Soldier Boy, & Hughie vs. Homelander

“Herogasm”

Everyone once believed that the leader of the Seven couldn’t be taken down in a fight. But that perception was shattered when Soldier Boy first took on Homelander. After the patriotic supe proved to be a decent challenge, Butcher made an epic entrance into the fray. Watching the two leaders fight on an even playing field was exhilarating. This battle royale kept us on our toes with excellent choreography and satisfying turns. And just when we thought things couldn’t get better, Soldier Boy and Hughie jumped into the melee to bring Homelander down. Homelander ultimately got away before dying. However, this pivotal fight hinted that it was actually possible for the Boys to walk away from this series as the ultimate victors.
